Coir – this natural fiber is obtained from the husk of the nut from the fruit of the coconut plant.
Coir fiber which is produced from the husks are hand woven in a natural coconut color, bleached cream color and a combination of the two.
Swaying palms and tropical lagoons are just part of the romance surrounding Coir. The softening of the coconut husk in lagoons allows the fibre to be beaten ready for spinning and weaving, often done by hand. As with most things in life, Coir has seen a dramatic change, now gracing the best living and commercial environments around the world.
Coir carpets are 100 % organic, biodegradable, ethnic and hygienic. It is hard and strong, resistant to rot, molds and moisture. There is also an aesthetic aspect associated with Coir, making it a perfect decorative material – if not in its raw form but as the variety products made out of it including Coir carpets.
Coir carpets are available in a variety of weaves including Boucle and Herringbone.
